Garnets are found in a range of colours and each described by its own name.

The red colour garnets are the most famous colour kind of garnets like the Bohemian garnet that is a deep red. Other than red, garnets also come in green, pink, yellow, brown, purple and  black. These stones also come in a variety called the Change colour garnets- the colour shade of the stone appears to be different under light settings.

Garnets have used since the ancient times during battles. It was worn by warriors who believed to protect one from wounds. It was treasured as sacred stone in many cultures.

Depending on its specific variety, garnet comes from many parts of the world, some of the regions being India, Brazil, Sri Lanka, and the USA.

The name Garnet derives from the Latin word “Granatum” for pomegranate. This was because the colour of this crystal looks like the seeds of the pomegranate fruit.

Garnet is the Birthstone for January. It is also the gem for the 2nd Anniversary.
